I wanted to give customers, fans, followers, and stalkers of Discreetly Greek a way to see a small window into the order fulfillment (shipping orders) process. I won’t pretend that before I got into the clothing industry that I was a tad bit nervous of the logistics (pun intended) and how it all went down!
Do I ship in a box, a poly, what the hell even is a “Poly bag”?
A lot of those questions came into my head, but once the first order came in almost 3/12 years ago came in, it was too late to think and start DOING!
I have a lot of the smaller, new clothing lines asking me lots of details about running your own independent store, so I wanted to use this almost like a How to and a glimpse behind the scenes.

Step 1: SHIPPING
The first step is printing the shipping label. My shopping cart is seamlessly connected to paypal so shipping is rather simple, no one can get anything until you print the label! I don’t use stickers because they are too costly. I use regular old office paper and sometimes I even print old slides from lectures! Hey, recycle, reduce, reuse! I am thinking green!
After printing, it’s time to fill the order. Usually orders are filled in a rush, heading out somewhere, so while reading this feel free to add a few random cuss words and some “babe, where are my car keys comments” while you follow along.
People are always excited to get candy in their order! I see it as a small thank you for their continued support, but also a way to separate my company from others. A miniscule way to say “hey I appreciate your order, and you are not only order #124656. We hand write a note, and draw something on the package as well to let my customers know each and every order is hand packaged and appreciated.
After the notes, candies, business card and other random goodies go into the bag, than it’s time to double-check the order. I have on several occasions sent the wrong size or shirt to the wrong customer, getting confused on who bought what. After a few lessons learned, I now do each order separate from the others so there is no way to get confused if Joe bought the Alpha Ayes tee or did Jane buy the Kappa Playboy tee!
Once quality control is checked, we double-check weight to make sure it’s ready to go and finish our doodle on the back and it’s ready to see the post man!
Orders in-house are processed usually within the first 24 hours. I ship first class using the USPS. Once it is scanned in, it can be at the customers door within 2 days, but no later than 5. Customers receive a tracking so they know exactly where their tee is once it leaves Discreetly Greek HQ.
